Aroldis Chapman, P
Analysis - Aroldis Chapman
Careful to not buy in on the hype. He's a one-pitch pitcher with poor control. Its also only been 2 innings thus far. He'll merely be a "decent" starter until he can find a reliable secondary pitch. He'll only be useful out of the bullpen at best for now.
Chapman will be called up to the Reds on Tuesday, by calling him up in August, he will be eligible to pitch in the post-season for Cincy. His value in non-keeper leagues will be limited for now as he'll be pitching out of the bullpen.
He has had success becoming a closer but I don't think he'll get a spot in the Reds rotation. He's a bit keeper material but I would put him on the FA because he looks to do nothing and can be draftable easily next season.
some experts say another stephan strasburg. I wouldnt take it that far but he is good and probably a litle lower then stras but lets see what he has first.
One year leagues and keeper leagues with 3-4 keepers he has little to no value. He still needs to work on his 36 BB in 59 IP. He's got a mediocre 4.22 ERA. Get him in deep leagues and dynasty/many keeper leagues. He might not get the call until Aug - Sept
Sorry for the double post.
In keeper leagues I'd definatly pick him up. He has endless potential and could probably be your ace of the future. He strikes out a ton of hitters, but he does have control problems. The Reds gave this guy $30 million, so they obviously see his greatness
